Vladimir Horowitz ( 1903 - 1990 ) was born in Kiev, Ukraine. Horowitz was a legendary virtuoso and highly regarded by critics and colleagues alike. Although most known for his romantic interpretations, he has been credited for reviving interests in the lesser know composers Clementi and Scarlatti. As a composer he wrote transcriptions on Liszt, Bizet, and Sousa and frequently performed his own works in his recitals.
