Glenn Gould ( 1932 - 1982 ) was born in Toronto, Canada. Perhaps there is no pianist more linked with playing a composer than Gould was with Bach. His 1955 recording of Bach's Goldberg Variations practically made him an overnight sensation. As a composer he wrote a String Quartet, a Fugue and short pieces for piano.
