Lev Oborin ( 1907 - 1974 ) was born in Moscow, Russia. He studied with a pupil of Busoni, Elena Gnesina and eventually would go to the Moscow Conservatory. He won the first Chopin competition in 1927. He was a frequent accompanist with renowned violinist David Oistrakh. His recordings include works by Beethoven, Schubert and Prokofiev.
