György Sebők ( 1922 - 1999 ) was born in Szeged, Hungary. He was enrolled at the Franz Liszt Academy at the age of 16 where he studied with Zoltan Kodaly. He won the Grand Prix du Disque in 1957 which gave his name prominence. He recorded works by Liszt, Chopin and Bartok and many others under the Erato label.
