Mikhail Pletnev ( 1957 ) was born in Arkhangelsk, Russia. He studied at the Moscow Conservatory with Yakov Flier and Lev Vlassenko. He recorded for Melodiya and then signed with Deutche Grammophon. He recorded works by Tchaikovsky, Liszt and Chopin. He would also begin his career as a conductor for the Russia National Orchestra.
