Gina Bachauer ( 1913 - 1976 ) was born in Athens, Greece. She studied under pianists Alfred Cortot and Sergei Rachmaninov. She began with the HMV label where she recorded works by Bach, Chopin and Liszt, and eventually would record for the Mercury label.
