Liu Shikun ( 1939 ) was born in Tianjin, China. His studies included Beijing's Conservatory of Music and the Moscow Conservatory. 2nd prize at the 1958 Tchaikovsky competition with Lev Oborin gave his name prominence. He recorded works by Liszt and several traditional Chinese compositions.
