André Dumortier ( 1910 - 2004 ) was born in Comines, Belgium. He studied at the Tournai Conservatory. In 1938 he won the Eugène Ysaÿe Competition which would become the well known Queen Elizabeth competition. His recordings include works by Weber, Franck and Absil.
